The Georgetown Volunteer Fire Company (GVFC) was organized in May of 1928 by a group of citizens who realized the need for fire protection in the community. Today, the men and women of GVFC are just as dedicated to the preservation of life and property as those who started this organization.

GVFC continues to meet the needs of our growing community by providing fire protection and emergency medical services to portions of Redding, Wilton, and Weston. In 2024, GVFC responded to 1,046 calls for service.

GVFC is unique. We have maintained our small town attitudes while combining them with state-of the art training and equipment. Whether it's a routine medical call or a 3-alarm fire, our members are equipped and ready to answer the call.

- Past Chief, Mike Heibeck

Our jobs today include not only fire protection and emergency medical service, but hazardous material situations, vehicle extrication, rope and cold water rescue, and more.

During the past year, we were fortunate to have ten new members join our ranks. Many of these new members have already successfully completed training as Emergency Medical Technicians or Firefighters and some have joined as Auxiliary members to support GVFC in a multitude of ways. Each have become an integral part of the Company.

The concept of neighbors helping neighbors is truly special. It's the driving force behind GVFC. If you ask any of our members, that's the common denominator.

- Company President, Andrew Snell

If you aren’t interested in responding to emergencies, that's OK! Share your talents and skills to help make GVFC stronger by becoming an Auxiliary member. We are always looking for volunteers with backgrounds in marketing & website design, mechanical repair, finance & accounting, construction, event coordination, grant writing, and more.

We are looking for Volunteers!

Our members are mechanics, police officers, stockbrokers, teachers, students, and local business owners, and each is also a dedicated volunteer committed to the health, safety and welfare of the people in our community. BECOME A VOLUNTEER TODAY!
